Auto Tweet

Auto-Tweet

Auto-Tweet is a feature for automatically publishing a short tweet that links back to your site when you create new content, such as a blog post or a new event. You still get a chance to edit the tweet if you’d like or you use our standard format: “New Post: [Post Headline] [Link back].”

If you’ve started with a “Quickstart” site for a specific type of organization, we’ve enabled the basic Auto-tweet feature already, but it still needs to be configured. The basic feature has been turned on at Site Settings > Features/Permissions > Auto-Tweet. You can also choose to add (or delete) the kinds of content you’d like to be auto-tweeted, such as blog posts, images, events, or press releases. We’ve already selected a bunch.

Now you need to associate your website with a Twitter account. Go to Site Settings > AutoTweet. The first time you click on this icon, it will take you to a page with a link to the Buzzr Twitter App. You’ll need to click on the link and approve access to your Twitter account.

You’ll then be sent back to your user profile and you should see your Twitter user name now on your profile.

To get back to your website from your user profile, just go to “My Websites” and click on the link to your site. It will send you back to your homepage.

You’ll need to go back to Site Settings > AutoTweet to check that the Twitter account is on your site – and to check the box enabling auto-tweet. You can associate more than one Twitter account with your site – this is the page where you can switch from account to account.

The next time you go to add content to your site from one of content types that’s been selected from auto-tweet, you’ll see a field at the bottom of the form that has a tweet configured and ready to go. It’s always going to be worded to promote the title of the content, unless you edit it. Be careful not to edit the link format (“!tiny url”) or it won’t link back to your site! (If you don’t want an auto-tweet tweet, just uncheck the box next to it.)

When you save the content to Buzzr, the tweet will go out at the same time!
